august 9, berlin // ... have you heard this Incubus song? it's gonna pound through my brain for the next long while I know. look for their new album Light Grenades. so many new things on my iPod but I always listen to each song all the way through (ever notice how some people just don't finish songs because they have so much music they can't help themselves). I just thought that Brianna's Hornby Island picture would be a fitting scene to compliment Stephen Malkmus. stay tuned... we have new reviews for 'Shifting Through The Breakers'... coming right up!

Blue Balls!... and Solomon's Echo |
july 29, luzern // ... what an amazing set last night at the Blue Balls Festival!!... the feeling was electric and there was heaps and heaps of people who took it in. I played three sets on the same stage that Jason Mraz had graced a few days earlier (and my dear friend Dave Celia). the songs went over amazingly (especially the ones from the new record!) and my voice and guitar bounced across the huge Piazza. I must give thanks to everyone who was there firstly!!.. and all the lovely folks who lined up to grab copies of my records, thank you so much!... but no less thanks go to the very kind Nicole at Sun Music for bringing us down, and Stefan who gave me perfect sound and was one of the most friendly sound-dudes I have ever met. look for the pictures coming in the next couple of weeks... actually, I am sure there will be one or two also posted on blueballs.ch in the next short while too. what a KILLER night!! actually I am patiently awaiting a stack of new pictures, from shows and missions of the last couple of weeks... (what a RUSH! )...
...such as the shots that Ryan and I shot last week in southern France... we forgot our cameras and so scooped a disposable in Valence.... neither words nor images can describe the unbelievable chill we had under the French sun. HOWEVER let me tell you about the shot above... several years old now but still a gem. this was Solomon's Echo, the first band I had that played my original songs!... we had such a good time together and the songs sounded blessed. one of the purest musical experiences of my life. top left to bottom right, Brett, Brianna, Raynelle, Caroline, moi, Emily, and Kim. NOTE: I've loaded a better version of this picture on to the 'pictures' page... click on over! (I'm also gonna upload the killer logos that Emily designed for us soon... stay tuned!)

shining from the top on down |
july 22, ulm // ... just cruising through uhh, U-town here... had such a blast this weekend!!! man I am so proud to be doing what I am doing. first, I had a great, great time at Moosenmättle, Tobse's festival down near Offenburg... several great bands including Brant Bjork and The Bros, and other dynamite locals! I sent out a couple of solo ripper sets to heaps and heaps of good people... thanks to everyone who came up the mountain, and of course thanks to good brother Tobse... remarkable how under control he had everything! then last night, I cruised to Lindenberg to rip it up at the American V8 (yes) and what a blast... the place was rammed and I set two personal records... 1. played four 'zucabe's (encores)... one woman even shoved me back onstage!... 2. I actually broke TWO strings at once. two strings at once!! that is like, impossible. ps. Nicole from Egfols... see you in Berlin.
I also got some sweet new visuals from my good man Jesko from Erlangen... he finally got some well-deserved vacation time and sent me some shots of Bretagne. set your mind wandering on the pictures page... the one above is from the inside of the tallest lighthouse in France...
