Alright!!
We have finally (somehow?) arrived at what is basically, the closure of the IndieGoGo Latitude 'project'... the money that we raised has come in, and now all gone out.
The final breakdown of how the money was spent goes like this:
Alright!!
We have finally (somehow?) arrived at what is basically, the closure of the IndieGoGo Latitude 'project'... the money that we raised has come in, and now all gone out.
The final breakdown of how the money was spent goes like this:
Now that I'm back in East Van, off the road I can calculate how much was spent on transport on this tour, and draw down the final expense details for our Latitude IndieGoGo budget!
Of course, this was the last pillar of what we had raised money for... the trains cost. (mixing, mastering, printing, promotion, flights and trains)
Whew! Now back from a fantastic tour, counting up the receipts to wrap up the IndieGoGo additions! You will notice that there was a pause in the last two months of 'step-by-step' posts, as I was swamped by tour preps and then lifted off to play these songs on tour. What-- an amazing experience.
So, let's pick up where we left off here...
The printing and mailing of tour posters is not really something that I had planned to spend the promotion budget on, and I'm not sure it's entirely aligned with my IndieGoGo mission statement...
Christina finished the tour poster and the flyer and it looks terrific! We will proudly send these graphics all around Germany and into Austria...
Meanwhile, Lukas referred me to Christina Höfer, who will create the tour poster that we will send out to each and every venue. She has a great eye and creative touch... I've seen a first draft already for the poster...
Nicole had been digging for options for promotion companies that would fit inside our budget and I thank her tremendously for efforts! In the meantime, it turns out that Christof's friend Willi, who will do the promotions for our tour-wrapping night at the Rubin Rot, will take on...
Yesterday DHL left a sticky on my mailbox... the download code stickers have arrived in Vancouver! Small charge for customs, and they are sitting being processed in Richmond, but... they're here!!..
The final payment was $621.20CAD, which I moved out of the Latitude account earlier in the morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see that our funds have raised some interest once again...
This morning I realized that there was a cost that I had not detailed in the campaign on IndieGoGo, and not even really considered would need to come from... somewhere. Evidently I needed to figure it out right away, since they would have to ship with all the booklets. Of course... the CDBaby download stickers...
Today the project moved into the home stretch as the design was OK'd by Dominik, and Jonas had all the panel 'bleeds' done and ready to go. The only thing left was to pay the deposit...
So, with the flight now paid for, there was $173.55CAD left on my credit card, from the $1,200CAD that I had moved to cover the cost.
This morning, I moved that $173.55CAD back into the Latitude account, to bring the account total...
Time for a check-in on exactly how much money remains in the Latitude fund raised from IndieGoGo!
From the total amount...
This afternoon the cost of the flight hit my credit card. In the end, it did not work out to be quite the deal that I thought I was getting... but it's good that it's over with. $1,026.45CAD is not a bad price to fly across the world...
I've been watching and clicking through cheap flight websites for a month now (I think?) and really I was waiting for the price to come down below $1,000. Of course, I also...
Tonight, once I have finished uploading the latest video (Upon The Open Grey on FinlayTV) it will be time to focus 100% on the booklet-- and the last few thank you emails that have shamefully straggled as I juggle...
In the last couple weeks, I have realized that I really had better get this flight booked... soon. Then, as I lazily checked on Saturday night, there was a sudden price drop... from about $1,100CAD to... $763CAD!!
I could not believe...
Dominik and I have been talking about the size of the booklet, and we both agree that we want the surface to be bigger than that of a standard CD booklet, and more like a book on your shelf. Thickness...
I decided a couple days ago to see if the Flight Centre gal can find the best price for the flights... I have found some interesting prices online myself, but...
As you might have seen on Facebook, Dominik and I have been putting together the order of the pictures for what will be a stunning booklet. There has been...
My 'high-interest' account-- the Latitude account-- has earned $1.23 in interest!...
I first found the flight for $1,102CAD, and tonight it has inched down to $1,081CAD. I want to have enough...
Just wanted to update where we're at: same place as last entry... several emails ahead, of course. The balance in the Latitude account is still $4,122.54CAD.
Dominik is working on the pictures and...
There are only four things left to pay for the album, and this is where it gets interesting... all four are in a sort of 'cost flux'.
The final transfer of the IndieGoGo campaign arrived today: $450.49CAD was the final amount. I immediately moved it into...
.... just thought that I would copy/paste here, the email that I sent to you contributors! In case you didn't get it... [major love from Morgan]
Just got back from meeting Brock and the most delightful and engaging conversation, sitting at Our Town at Main and Kingsway.
I walked into a travel agency yesterday (an 'adventure travel agency', no less!) and discovered a bit about the costs and practicalities of the train pass for the tour.
I thought to myself this morning that it would be clearer for both you and I, if I pulled...
Of course they say that it might take 5-7 business days, in case someone's internet connection goes down I assume...?
In the end it has taken less than 24 hours.
I got an email from IndieGogo this morning, telling me that they had sent the wire transfer today...
Tonight I withdrew $500CAD from the Latitude account and rode the bike down from Commercial Drive, to False Creek in the late-day sun, to pay Jeff Grout...
Initially of course I had just put a general search into Google, one of the flight sites, to see roughly how much the flight to and from the European tour would cost....
The paypal transfer happened yesterday, some 3-4 days ahead of when they said it would.
One hundred and eleven people have brought 'Latitude' onto the air and out on the road.
This is the first step where the amount that we raised, is affected a little.
The breakdown of how this money came into the campaign, and how their fees affect the amount raised, is like this:
Here we are my friends, on a fresh new page. Of course, this one doesn't start out blank.
